Cindy Coffey: Special Cooking for one isn’t much fun. A With Valentine’s Day arriving tomorrow, many people are reminded that being single and searching for a ‘soulmate’ can be difficult. And that has turned into a business success story for Linda Miller. Miller is a professional matchmaker and started Misty River introductions seven years |
ago
after she had a dream. She
had been successful at matching a number of college friends and family
members, and decided she’d try matchmaking for a living. With
a lot of hard work and a definite knack, her business has now been
‘the result of at least 200 marriages,
she said. Misty
River has quite a client list and covers a territory from Barrie to
Sudbury to eastern Ontario. She keeps her client base even as far, as
gender goes but says sometimes it’s hard keeping the right combination
and mix. “Men over 60 and women under 35 are always in short supply,” |
says
Miller. She particularly enjoys matching older people and is delighted
when couples in their late-. 70s find love. What
are some of the reasons people turn to Misty River Introductions? “These
are not people who can’t find a woman or a man ... they are people who haven’t found the right
woman or man. They have no trouble getting dates, just trouble meeting
the kind of people they want to spend the rest of their lives with,”
says Miller. It all starts with an interview. All you have to do is explain your |
expectations
and Misty River does the rest. They
say they take the stress out of looking for a long-term relationship. Miller
says the criteria women often seek is intelligence, employment and
height. On the other hand, men are looking for honesty, loyalty and
size. So if the bar-scene isn’t your thing, you’ve been busy establishing a career, you’re new to the single scene after divorce, or just tired of being alone, you can reach Misty River Introductions at 734-1292. |
